An ode to my matriarchal lineage of preparing soorj (Armenian coffee) and reading the grounds, a tradition that I hold close as a family heirloom.
Top right is a botanical depiction of the plant, Coffea arabica
Bottom right is my mom preparing the coffee in a special pot called a jazva
Bottom left is the waiting, once you drink down to the grounds, you flip your cup over and wait as the grounds settle
Top left is my Nana, reading the grounds
Relief print, hand painted details with soorj
