Since we started Portland SWANA Stitch in February 2023, our community has grown and created amazing projects!

We wanted to commemorate our second SWANA Stitch show by interviewing our members about what stitching and Stitch mean to them.

It feels important right now to collect oral histories of our communities. The themes that kept surfacing were connection, community, generational connections, picking up ancestral crafts. These are some of the threads that connect us.

We hope this zine inspires you to pick up your stitches and build radical community the way our ancestors have since the very first stitch.
